In addition to floral, we carry modern pottery, pillows and throws, candles, perfume and body care, jewelry, decorative items, cards, and books. We have a loyal customer following and a unique environment. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and inspired person to join our team. We have been featured in Elle Decor, Sunset magazine, Portland Monthly, Portland Bride and Groom, Design Sponge, and many other design blogs. - Floral design and retail sales are of equal importance in this position. - We are currently looking for EITHER one full-time employee 32-40 hours per week OR 2 part-time employees 2-3 days a week each. - Applicant must be available immediately, Nov 28 - Jan 5 (busy holiday season), and for summer weddings next year - Applicant must be available weekends - Must have 2+ years floral experience & retail sales experience (preferably boutique retail home decor, lifestyle, or clothing store) - Looking for a long-term employee to grow with us GENERAL SKILLS NEEDED: - Good work ethic and is self-motivated with positive attitude - Very reliable/trainable to take direction and also work alone - Good team member - works well with others - Ability to multi-task and work well and quickly under pressure - Be willing and able to do all parts of the job from cleaning floral buckets and recycling cardboard (with some lifting and light physical labor) to building a bridal bouquet and doing customer-centered retail sales RETAIL SKILLS: - Strong communication and people skills - focus on excellent customer service; ability to approach and easily and naturally create conversation with customers - Be energetic and engaging - Pick up product knowledge quickly and relay to customer - Ability to drive sales and meet sales goals through excellent customer service - Strong interest in home decor and gift lines; inspired by design - Enjoys working on floor displays and integrating product into the environment - Ability to learn quickly on Mac computer/register system; product entry, sales, and inventory - Be able to communicate with vendors on orders - We just launched a web-store; should be able to understand and perform the duties necessary for taking computer generated web orders and packing/shipping them FLORAL SKILLS: - Our floral design style is eclectic, lush, and modern. We use a lot of unusual flowers, textures, pods and fruit. Must be able to design in this style. - Must be able to design floral for weddings centerpieces, bridal bouquets, large focal arrangements, wired corsages, etc. - Must be able to design vase arrangements and hand-tied bouquets on the spot for walk-in customers. - Able to take and fill phone orders ***Have updated resume and portfolio/photos of work ready to show and references available immediately ***If you do not have floral skills but have a depth of experience in retail sales you may be considered Please feel free to email photos of your work with your resume Location: Portland Principals only.
