Jobs in Portland OR: Job Description: Service Technician Reports to: Service Manager General Objective: Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment, performs repairs and schedules maintenance work based on customer needs and requirements. Dedicated to customer satisfaction, responding in a timely, polite and professional manner that meets or exceeds the departmental objectives. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Promotes an atmosphere of good will and accountability between the company and the customer 2. Acts in professional manner and provides a superior level of customer service and satisfaction 3. Expertly analyzes and diagnoses customer equipment problems and breakdowns 4. Recommends the correct service and repair actions to resolve equipment performance problems 5. Makes appropriate equipment repairs or modifications to solve operating and performance problems as dictated by the analysis of the customer's equipment 6. Efficiently performs scheduled equipment maintenance per customer contract 7. Follows all scheduled maintenance procedures and policies as dictated by the company 8. Accurately and neatly documents each service call, providing necessary paperwork in a timely fashion 9. Observes all safety procedures, makes certain that hazardous waste is properly disposed 10. Cooperatively performs additional duties when assigned by service management 11. Maintains the company service vehicle in a clean, orderly and hazard-free manner 12. Secures and maintains service and parts inventory in the company service vehicle 13. Provides well-maintained personal tools required to effectively perform equipment service duties 14. Other department responsibilities as assigned Skills Required: 1. Effectively communicates with customers, co-workers and management. 2. Secondary school graduate with one to three years of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience. May include equivalent college or vocational school education. 3. Has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude 4. Has the ability to understand the necessary service and training manuals, including the ability to interpret schematics and effectively use electrical diagnostic instruments. 5. Keep pace with industry innovations in order to make sound recommendations to customers. 6. Can safely operate power tools, lifts, hoists, hydraulic jacks and overhead cranes. 7. Has the ability to perform strenuous and heavy work, can exert force up to 100 pounds on occasion and frequently handle loads to 50 pounds. 8. Must have the physical stamina to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, lifting and reaching, etc. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a maintenance environment with potential equipment movement hazards as well as exposure to chemicals and solvents that require knowledge of proper safety procedures. Work is performed at customer locations, including manufacturing, warehouses, cold storage facilities and in other 'difficult' or outdoor environments. The demands of the position often exceed normal working conditions. Company workloads may require work after hours or on weekends. Location: Portland Compensation: DOE Principals only.
