The work schedule for this position is: Tuesday -Saturday 11:00 pm to 7:30 am. The setting for this position is in a residential treatment facility that serves adults with a severe and persistent mental illness. The Residential Counselor II works as a member of a team to implement and monitor the treatment of residents within the particular residential facility in which they live. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based approach to assisting clients in achieving their individual goals. The position duties include: providing therapeutic interventions with residents as directed, provide training on an individual or group basis, supervision and support in living skills (ie. self care, hygiene, community resources); assisting with medication administration; assisting in crisis situations, following emergency protocols; performing household chores which may include bio-hazard issues; and documenting and maintaining clinical records. This Residential Counselor will demonstrate appropriate boundaries and ethics, respect and honor client rights, demonstrate responsibility for safety of residents and property, participate in regular supervision and staff meetings, complete employee trainings, and fulfill billing requirements. This position requires a QMHA credential (Qualified Mental Health Associate- bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field or 3 years full time professional work experience with individuals with mental illness). The Residential Counselor II must be able to demonstrate a work history of dependability along with strong interpersonal, organizational and clinical skills. An appreciation for, and understanding of the care requirements for adults with mental health issues may contribute to job success. The Residential Counselor must be able to operate computer hardware and software (including electronic medical record software) at a level needed to effectively perform job functions. This includes the ability to enter data and retrieve data and to prepare simple reports. The Residential Counselor must have a general understanding of cultural differences and have a strong appreciation of and respect for other cultures. This position requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record and must be able to pass a Department of Motor Vehicles check. The position will work collaboratively with the treatment team to assist in developing mental health treatment and behavior support plans and implement these plans as outlined, with specific focus on rehabilitation and behavioral interventions. Requirements This position requires: A QMHA credential (Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field or 3 years adult mental health experience). The ability to communicate effectively, understands and apply mental health treatment plans, and work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment. The ability to operate computer hardware and software (including electronic medical record software) at a level needed to effectively perform job functions. A valid driver's license and ability to pass a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) check is required. Ability to drive a 12 passenger micro bus is preferred. Experience working in long term care or residential settings and/or experience working with individuals coping with a serious mental illness and/or experience working with older adults is preferred.
