Local Jobs in Portland: Holland Residential is seeking an experienced Controller to join our Development Accounting Team. Holland Development constructs then manages a portfolio of luxury multi-family properties across six states. Responsibilities Include: Communicate with project personnel, external vendors, lenders and equity partners for all finance and accounting questions and requests Review staff accountant's general accounting work including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll allocations, job costing and general ledger posting for Development Create and implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues to make the reporting process more efficient and accurate Train and mentor Senior Project accountants on real estate accounting principles necessary to prepare financial statements for investors and lenders and reporting requirements Responsible for final oversight of the financial statements Must ensure compliance with joint venture, lender and company financial reporting requirements Process contractor's payment applications for monthly billings. Confirm required documents received prior to payment Interpret and communicate agreements (partnership agreements and loan agreements), to help Senior Project accountants reflect the relevant provisions in financial statements and project billings Communicate with project personnel, external vendors, lenders and equity partners for all finance and accounting questions and requests Calculate payroll allocations Holland Development Calculate and create Holland Development invoices for pay rate, contractors profit and construction management fee Calculate and create Holland Development invoices for Direct/Indirect expenses and Development Fee Prepare Holland Development Financials on a monthly basis Prepare WSST & B&O tax calculations on a monthly basis Prepare budget and forecasting for Holland Development. Track actual expense and revenue vs. budget and analyze fluctuations Coordination of annual audit and tax returns of project entities with outside CPA firm Participate in a variety of special projects and special reports as required Qualifications: Job cost and construction experience preferred Must have considerable knowledge of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) Strong understanding of Real Estate/Development partnership accounting required Management/Supervisory experience required Ability to work independently Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines Must have excellent organizational skills Proficient knowledge of the computer, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Yardi beneficial, but not required Experience: Bachelors degree required 6 years minimum experience in accounting required. Previous experience in development and construction/cost accounting preferred Physical requirements: Ability to lift, push and pull up to 20lbs. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situation required.
